What spells we weave…

Have you ever wished you could sweep your hand through the air and make all your problems disappear? Wouldn’t that be nice? Unfortunately, I don’t know how to make that happen. If you do, please email 😊.

Although the all-encompassing, hand-waving change is out of reach, the world’s energy is at our disposal to help ease us through life.

Everything contains energy. Here’s the exciting part: we instinctively know how to use energy. Since magic is energy manipulation, we each perform a bit of magic every day.

Instinct, a natural or inherent impulse or behavior, exists in the subconscious mind along with learned responses. It’s an invisible logic that mixes with reason. Animals use instinct to avoid death or to find a mate.

Sometimes we call it our gut feeling. Have you ever gotten a feeling something wasn’t right? Even though logically the situation or decision seemed sound, your instinct tugged at you, told you to move away. Sometimes you’ll have an immediate understanding of something. You just know without knowing exactly how you know.

Have you ever thought about someone you haven’t seen in years only to have them call the next day? A coincidence, some people might say. Or maybe your psychic energy had kicked into high gear. When a luxurious salt bath in a room lit with scented candles at the end of a stressful day relaxes your nerves and puts you in a better frame of mind, you’re attracting positive energy into your life.

Practicing meditation, yoga, tai-chi, or simply taking a walk in nature can help you create a stronger connection to your instinctual use of energy.

Modern day witches consciously focus on using energy for spell work. Some use tools such as the Book of Shadows. This book contains a witch’s spells. Other tools might include pentacles, ritual knives, candles, wands, crystals, or chalices.

Sorcerers in the Twisted Curse Series are human. They are born an innate ability to tap into the world’s energy. Spoken spells, combined with hand gestures, allow them to channel energy into powerful forces.

Like modern day witches, sorcerers use objects called artifacts to enhance or amplify their magic. Many sorcerers go through years of training to hone their art and build up a tolerance to using magic. Some human bloodlines carry more innate power. These are the elite sorcerers.

Of course, the sorcerers pay a price for using magic. The more powerful the spell and longer they use magic, the longer their bodies burn. It starts with the fingertips, then works down the hand and up their arms. If they continue using magic, they risk burning to death.

Whether you’re fascinated with sorcerer magic, fae, dragons, or shifters, you’ll enjoy diving into my Twisted Curse Series.
